Every sharpening removes metal. Good work removes only what is needed.

How many times a nipper can be sharpened depends on the quality of the steel, the length of the jaw and whether the tip has been dropped or bent. A well-made tool with a longer jaw may take five, six, seven or more sharpenings. A damaged tip can often be reshaped, but the jaw may end up slightly shorter because the bent metal has to come away.

That is why Erik wants to see the actual tool. We do not charge when a nipper cannot be sharpened, and we would rather tell you the tool is finished than remove metal for no reason.

Pushers are personal.

Some nail artists use a pusher to scrape polish or work close to an ingrown side and want a sharper, blade-like edge. Others use light pressure and want the edge softened and rounded. Write your preference with the order. “Sharpen it” is not enough information for a tool that touches a client’s skin.

We do not currently sharpen cuticle scissors. Erik will not take that work until he has the equipment, training and practice to return them like new.

Before the package leaves your hands

  1. Count and identify the tools.Include your name, email, phone and Instagram handle if you use one. Note any bent tips, missing parts or special pusher preference.
  2. Send a video when something is damaged.A quick close-up helps Erik judge whether the tip can be reshaped and whether parts may be needed.
  3. Pack the points so they cannot move.Wrap each tool, protect sharp tips, and use a rigid mailer or box. Send the tracking number so we can watch for it.

  5. Wait for the arrival note.We notify you when the package arrives and send return tracking when the work is complete. Ask for the current turnaround before mailing; the latest service notice is running 1–2 weeks.

A rotation keeps working nippers in your kit.

For a full-time nail artist with a healthy inventory, every four to five months is a sensible starting rotation. With only a dozen tools moving through sterilization and clients, two to three months may fit better. The right interval depends on how often each tool is used and how the edge feels.
