We put a clean working edge back on kitchen knives, scissors, garden tools and beauty tools. Erik does the sharpening himself, and he does not rush a blade just because a line is forming.
A worn edge makes you press harder. A kitchen knife slips off tomato skin, scissors fold material instead of cutting it, and a pruner crushes a stem. The fix is not to grind away as much steel as possible. It is to restore the working shape of the edge while keeping the tool useful for the long run.
We sharpen the ordinary things people actually use: chef’s knives, pocket knives, scissors, mower blades, loppers, hatchets, nippers and pushers. If the tip is bent, the blade is nicked, or the tool is unusual, show it to us. Erik will tell you plainly what can be brought back and what cannot.
At the market, you can drop off your knives, walk the stalls, and come back to a working edge. We also sharpen from our Arvada base and arrange mobile service around the Denver area.

Carmen grew up in Brazil and could not find anyone in the United States to sharpen her own cuticle nippers. That frustration became Afia. Erik brought a Culinary Arts and hospitality background, an operator’s patience, and a curiosity about how each edge is supposed to work.
Today the business moves between a family-run market tent, a mobile trailer and a mail bench in Arvada. The range is broad because the principle is simple: understand the tool before taking metal away.
